Symposium Overview

The Soil and Plant Analysis Council (SPAC) is pleased to announce that registration, sponsorship opportunities, and a call for abstracts for the 18th International Symposium on Soil and Plant Analysis (ISSPA) are now open. The meeting of ISSPA 2025 is hosted by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and North Carolina State University and will take place in Durham, North Carolina, USA, June 9 – 13, 2025. In partnership with the Australasian Soil and Plant Analysis Council, Agri-Laboratory Association of Southern Africa, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's Global Soil Partnership, we are honored to host this esteemed symposium in North America for the first time in 10 years.

The theme of the 2025 Symposium is "Advancing Agricultural Science for Global Sustainability," with sessions that focus on:

  • soil health and plant nutrition
  • carbon cycling and sequestration
  • water quality and resources
  • laboratory analysis methods and technologies
  • harmonized fertilizer recommendations
An optional, pre-symposium workshop consisting of four 1-hour technical sessions on laboratory instrumentation and methods is available on Monday, June 9. The symposium begins Monday evening with an elegant, all-inclusive, opening reception at the Durham Hotel's popular rooftop restaurant. Alongside plenary, oral, and poster sessions, attendees will enjoy a full day tour of the NCDA&CS agricultural testing labs and agricultural research sites in the Piedmont and Sandhills regions; concluding in a closing dinner banquet at the historic Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC. Attendees will also have the option to join a post-symposium tour of coastal North Carolina, offering firsthand exploration of the state's beautiful beaches and ecosystems and serving as an invaluable global networking opportunity.

The International Symposium
on Soil and Plant Analysis

Is a biennial global symposium for scientists, public and private laboratories, government agencies, professionals, and students, to discuss scientific and technological advances in soil and plant analysis. The previous ISSPA was held in Chile in March 2023.
